ELECTROCITY

By Joel Suñé

Electrocity is a game created by Genesis Energy. This game is on the Internet and involves on building a city with good development and respect for the environment. It is very simple to play: you have a terrain divided in 25 parts. Some of these parts are sea, others are beaches, another is the city, while the others are mountains and meadows.

The objectives are to increase population, popularity and money, all while respecting the environment.

Population

The factors used to gain more population are tourist elements such as ski resorts, beaches, airports... And the levels of energy have to be increased. If there is not enough energy, the population becomes angry and leaves the city. The most important factor in the population increase is popularity. If this is good, the population increases, but if the popularity is not good people leave the city.

Popularity

Popularity is for me the most important factor in the good development of the city, because it has the same value as the population and, at the same time, the population depends on popularity. So its value is doubled. Popularity depends on the constructions that are near the city. Popularity increases with the construction of a stadium but decreases with that of a nuclear silo.

Money

Money is, of course, another factor in the development of the city. Everything needs money to be built, and money is produced by the population and the tourist buildings. More money can be earned with the coal and gas markets.

Environment

The last factor is the environment. The environment has a score and if it is destroyed, one must suffer the consequences. So the environment is very important too.

There is a public competition, as well as some school competitions involving finished cities. You can see the finished cities here: http://www.electrocity.co.nz/Browse/
